Read John 16:13-15.
Prayer is such an important aspect of our Christian life. We need to talk to God through the Holy Spirit. In this scripture Jesus was preparing to leave his disciples and return to his Father, and his disciples were afraid. They had imagined spending much time with Jesus, learning about His kingdom and how to find their places in it. The disciples could not handle that Jesus was leaving them so soon. Their lives had to change from the God they could see to the God who would be in them by the spirit.
Jesus assured them that their prayers would be heard, and the Holy Spirit would lead them. The Spirit of God would remind the disciples and us of the truth of Jesus as the only Savior whom they and us will ever need. The Spirit takes us by the hand and helps us to live into the words and actions of the Father and the Son. We can talk and be guided by God through our prayers. Praying is the most important action that we can do for others and situations. God hears our big and small prayers.
