Read Proverbs 4:6.

Have you ever known someone who doesn’t pray? Some people think that prayer is about asking for something. Prayer is much more than that. Why should we pray?  God commands it. When Jesus talked about prayer he says, “when you pray.” He assumes we will pray. He expects us to pray. Prayer is essential for our connection with God.

Life is meant to be full of joy and purpose. Missionary E. Stanley Jones wrote, “if we know how to pray, we know how to live.” Living a life full of anxiety, stress and worry is not living life more abundantly like Jesus promised us. It is much better to live our lives prayerfully and peacefully rather than being filled with anxiety.  Paul tells the Church at Philippi “in everything,” in all of life prayer. This is easier said than done but we need to exercise our faith, and trust God when we feel anxiety, worry and stress building up in our heart.

Personal Worship Option:

Merciful God, I put my trust in you. I cast all of my anxiety and stress and worries on you and trust you to care for me and the things that I am concerned about. Thank you for replacing my anxiety with peace and faith. Amen.
