Read Acts 1:8.

Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His followers this powerful promise. The mission He entrusted them with—spreading the gospel to the world—was impossible in their own strength. But He did not send them alone. He promised the gift of the Holy Spirit, who would fill them with God’s power.

The same is true for us today. As believers, we are not left to struggle through life or to share our faith relying only on our own wisdom and courage. God has given us the same Spirit who empowered the early church. That Spirit gives boldness when we are afraid, wisdom when we feel unprepared, and endurance when the work feels overwhelming.

Notice also the order Jesus gives: first Jerusalem—home, family, and community. Then Judea and Samaria—nearby places, even among people who are different or difficult. And finally, the ends of the earth—all nations, every tribe and tongue. Our calling begins where we are and expands outward, as God leads and equips.

Reflection:
  • Am I depending on my own strength, or on the power of the Holy Spirit in my daily life?
  • Where is my “Jerusalem”—the place God is calling me to witness right now?
  • How might God be nudging me to step beyond my comfort zone into my “Judea” or “Samaria”?

Personal Worship Option:

Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit who empowers us to live and to witness for You. Fill me today with boldness and love. Help me to be faithful in my “Jerusalem” and obedient if You send me further. Let my life point others to the hope found in You. Amen.
