Read 1 Peter 1:14-16.

John Wesley preached over 40,000 times in his life. He preached this passage in 1 Peter or referred to it often. His emphasis on personal holiness was something he believed a sincere faith produced. For him it was the natural progression of spiritual growth.

Peter writes that God is holy (Jehovah M’Kadesh). Since God is holy, God expects us to be holy as well. To be holy is to be morally blameless, separated from sin and consecrated to God. It is to live a life in conformity to the moral precepts of the Bible. This is a life-long task and struggle we all deal with. As we grow in our faith we should grow in our commitment, knowledge, character and love for God and others. May God continually work holiness into our life as we grow in our faith.

Personal Worship Option:

Jehovah M’Kadesh, Holy God, work holiness into my heart and life. Help me to live the kind of life you are calling me to live. Amen
