Read Isaiah 40:13-14.

Reading the verses for today, you will realize that the people that Isaiah was talking to thought way too much of themselves. They had forgotten that God is the creator, and we are his creatures. God is the potter and we are the clay that He shapes us for His purposes. Isaiah was frustrated and reminded them that the Lord is the everlasting God, the maker of all to the ends of the earth. God is the craftsman who brings out the stars one by one and calls each of us by name.

God is much more than any of the earthly rulers. No one can be compared to the Lord Almighty. No one is his equal! It’s not that we are not important. Just the opposite, each person has immeasurable worth, for we are made in God’s image and created to be in relationship with the one true God. We need to remember that our worth is a gift from God. Our value has been given, not earned. We need to be humble and constantly recall that God needs to be our guide and leader.

Personal Worship Option:

God, we acknowledge that in the midst of your tremendous power and presence, we are like fine dust. Help us remember that all we are and have is a gift from you. Amen.
