Read Luke 10:38-42.
Jesus and His disciples were at the home of Lazarus, Mary & Martha. There are at least sixteen people present. They would need food and something to drink. While Martha was hard at work trying to meet their needs, Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to Him teach. Martha got so agitated with Mary for not helping her she snapped at Jesus and complained about Mary. She even said, “Lord, do you not care.” Sometimes we get so busy serving God we do not take time to sit at the feet of Jesus like Mary to get to know the one we are serving. We need to serve but we also need to spend time at the feet of Jesus.
Gracious God, help me to have balance in my life. May I have attributes of both Mary and Martha in my life. Put me to service for you and teach me to sit at your feet. Amen
