Read Acts 9:1-19.
In Acts 9, we meet Saul—a fierce persecutor of Christians, full of pride, power, and purpose. But on the road to Damascus, everything changed. A brilliant light from heaven stopped him in his tracks, and he encountered the risen Jesus. In that moment, the man who thought he was fighting for God realized he had been fighting against Him.
This story reminds us that no one is beyond God’s reach. Saul wasn’t looking for Jesus—yet Jesus found him. This is grace: God interrupts our broken paths to place us on the road to life.
Notice what happened after Saul’s encounter. He was blinded—helpless, humbled, and led by the hand into Damascus. For three days he sat in darkness, not eating or drinking, just waiting. God was at work, not just around Saul, but within him. The proud man who once led others was now completely dependent on God.
Sometimes God must stop us in our tracks to open our eyes. Like Saul, we may need seasons of darkness to see the light more clearly. Our plans may fall apart, our strength may fail—but in that place, we discover the power and presence of Jesus.
Following Jesus starts with surrender—laying down our pride, letting go of our old identity, and allowing His grace to transform us. Saul’s story reminds us that God doesn’t just forgive the past; He redefines our future.
Lord, thank You for pursuing me even when I wander. Help me to hear Your voice and respond with surrender. If You need to stop me to change me, I trust You. Open my eyes to Your truth and guide me in the way that leads to life. Amen
