Read Philippians 2:13.
I worked at a company that had a large IT department with a great help desk. When we would encounter a problem with our computer and call the desk, a computer specialist would sometimes ask,” May I take control of your screen?” Once you gave permission and sat back, your cursor would go flying across your screen as the specialist worked to resolve the issue. It gave you a bit of a strange sensation to see your computer working away, when you had totally relinquished control and were sitting back just watching. “There,” the specialist would soon say, “You are good to go.” The problem was solved, and you were back to work.
This passage is encouraging us to let God have control of our lives. God gives us free will, and we can do things that prevent God from accomplishing what God desires through us. If we completely surrender to God, things take off in our lives much like the computer specialist taking over and controlling our screens. God is pleased when we surrender and let God lead and guide us.
Pray with me: Loving God, I am turning my life over to you. Lead and guide me as you wish. Help me to avoid taking things back over or withholding anything from you. This is not easy for me, and I need your help even to completely surrender. Amen.
