Read Proverbs 23:26.
In this sweet verse, we hear the voice of a loving Father inviting us into a deeper relationship, not through force, but through heartfelt surrender. The call to give me your heart is not a demand, but an invitation to offer our most authentic selves to serve God. This is not easy for us. We tend to want to be in control so to give up our desires, affections, and will seem like a huge sacrifice. It’s a request from God to love and serve Him in a way that is whole and undivided, rooted in trust and reverence.
The second part of this verse, let your eyes observe my ways, draws us into active discipleship. It’s not enough to casually commit; we are expected to watch, learn, and mirror the character of God in our daily lives. We do this by studying in His word, noticing how wisdom is demonstrated by faithful believers, and aligning our choices to what pleases Him. This isn’t a one-time offering, it’s a daily rhythm of surrender and attentiveness.
Dear God, Help us totally surrender to you and guide us to do the work that you want each of us to do. Give us the courage to step out to help others. Amen.
