Read Hebrews 12:1-2.
We are to run the race that is set before us with patience and perseverance. The writer is talking about our life and our calling from God. To run this race the way God expects us to, we need to make Jesus the central focus of our life. This is what the giants of the faith listed in Hebrews 11 did. Their faith and life was focused on God. As an individual or as a Church, Jesus should be our central focus. Everything we say and do should lift-up Jesus. Every ministry, every Sunday school class, support group, mission, worship service, Bible study, ministry event and meeting should be Christ centered. Let us not allow ourselves to get side-tracked, distracted or discouraged. Let us make sure Jesus is a priority in our life and run the race God has set before us.
Gracious God help me to keep you as the center of my life. Empower me to run this race you have set before me with perseverance and character. Help me be a witness of your love and grace to others. Amen.
