Read Joshua 14:13-15.
Caleb was a valiant warrior and a mighty man of faith. Moses promised him this land where giants lived. The Scripture simply states that Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb. It was because of Caleb’s faithfulness from the start that God promised him a personal inheritance of the land. After 40 plus years Caleb finally experienced the promise from God. Although the inherited land still had giants, Caleb knew the LORD would help him conquer them. He shared his thoughts with Joshua in the previous verses (6-12). The name that appears and reappears in Caleb’s words is: THE LORD. This was who was on Caleb’s mind and heart. He centered his mind on THE LORD.
Like Caleb, we must be faithful to God, not only at the start of our walk with him but throughout our entire lives. We must never allow ourselves to rest on our past accomplishments or reputations. As faith grows, the realization that God always keeps his word becomes a cornerstone of faith. Caleb kept his focus on God. Scripture says that “Caleb followed God wholeheartedly’” vs 15.
