Read Acts 4:12.
Peter's declaration about the name of Jesus was highly offensive to the Jewish leaders of that day. It would also have been offensive to Roman leaders. A single route to salvation may sound strange if not arrogant to many in our world today. We must recognize that we can do nothing to save ourselves. How can we, sinful human beings, have access to the throne of God? We depend totally on Christ for salvation.
We are told in 2 Corinthians 5:19, In Christ, God reconciled the world to himself. 1 Timothy 2:5 states there is only one mediator between God and humankind, and that mediator is Jesus Christ. You might be familiar with verse John 14:6, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one can go to the Father except through him. Jesus is the path that leads us to God.
Jesus is the way to salvation, to abundant life, and to liberation. He is the bridge that connects us to God. He is the ultimate high priest who mediates between us and God. No church, no religion, no sacred rite, aside from Jesus Christ, can reconcile you with God.
God, we know that Jesus is the only way to live a full life with you. By your Spirit, guide us to receive him as the one Savior from sin and death. In his name we pray. Amen.
