Devotion:

Read 2 Corinthians 13:11-14.

I have heard (and used) this “Trinitarian blessing” found in verse 14 for many years as a closing, “sending forth” blessing at the end of worship services. It is both a blessing for individuals and for the congregation/group of people as a whole. We can each celebrate the grace, love and fellowship we have with God but also know those same blessings are available to us as we seek to serve and grow as part of our shared ministry as God’s people.

Our focus this week is on God’s gift of grace. J. Paul Sampley, in The New Interpreter’s Bible Commentary, shares these statements about this verse: “Grace opens and closes every undisputed Pauline letter, just as grace encompasses every moment of the life of faith for all believers. The life of faith is totally dependent from beginning to end on God’s unmerited, freely bestowed gift.” Celebrate this gift today and live on the basis of it.

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you” now and forevermore.

Personal Worship Option:

Take some time to reflect on how you experience the grace, love and fellowship of God. How might you help others have similar experiences?
