Read 1 Corinthians 12:13-21, 27.
In this portion of his letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul uses one of his favorite analogies for describing the Church: the human body. He beautifully paints the picture of the Church being the Body of Christ. We are not just individual Christians doing our own thing in a personal relationship with Jesus. As a part of that relationship, we serve his mission by serving in shared ministry with other Christians. We each use the gifts, talents and passions for helping in a connection that allows us to do so much more than any of us could do individually.
Sometimes we can slip into thinking that certain parts of the Body are not really needed, that “it won’t matter if I don’t do my part.” That is not the case. It does matter. The Church needs you to be whole, healthy and functioning at full strength. Think about when you have an injury, maybe to a hand or foot. You figure out ways to compensate and still function, but you are not at full strength and cannot do all the things you normally do. It is not different in the Body of Christ. You are needed. You have a gift for ministry that the Church needs. Be assured that you are important in our shared ministry for Christ our Lord.
Personal Worship Option:
One of the ways we share in ministry is we worship together. Join us today, either at 9:30 or 11:15, as we sing and pray and listen for what God wants to share with us. We hope to see you at Christ Church!
