Read Psalm 103:1-8.
Psalm 103 is a joyous hymn of celebration of God’s love, compassion, and forgiveness. The Psalmist reminds the congregation that God is the source of forgiveness and healing, not because of who we are, but because of who God is. He goes on to say that God’s love is everlasting and steadfast, not subject to the winds of change “but the Lord’s faithful love is from forever ago to forever from now for those who honor him” (Psalm 103:17, CEB). God’s love never fails us.
The hope that we find in this passage is that no matter what we do, we can never escape from or be denied God’s love. God may not approve of what we might have done, but nothing that we do can separate us from the love of God and the forgiveness that comes from repentance. Thanks be to God!
