Read Psalm 37:5-6.
On the farm we did a lot of plowing with a hand plow. My Dad always reminded me to keep my eyes looking ahead to the end of the row and never look back, always look forward. Life is much like that. No matter what circumstance we find ourselves in, keep going and don’t look back is the best plan. Keep plowing ahead. When we commit ourselves to God, it means we hold nothing back. Whether it’s our issues with family members, our occupation, or our health, this commitment takes the ultimate amount of trust. The simple fact is God can take much better care of us than we can do for ourselves. There is always another week of uncertainty that faces us. Don’t let those concerns turn into moments of doubt leading to a decrease in our faith. Bringing God all our cares and concerns should not be viewed as a form of weakness. It is God’s love for us that can fill us with hope. Let’s keep our hands on the plow, forging ahead in our work and mission. Let’s continue to trust God to make a way for us through each step we take.
Dear God, as we face week after week of uncertainty, help us to not be overwhelmed by fears and doubt. Instead, let us put trust in you and our lives into your perfect care. Amen.
