Read Psalm 50:10.

We know that we can trust God to meet our needs.  This verse reminds us that everything on earth belongs to God. There are at least a couple of good lessons in Psalm 50 and in this verse in particular.  The first of those is that, when we give our offerings to God, we are really giving to God out of God’s possessions. In the psalm, God was saying to the Israelites that when they gave an animal in sacrifice to God, they were giving an animal that already belonged to God. To emphasize this point, God said in this verse that even the wild animals in the forest and all the cattle on a thousand hills belong to God. This reminds us that our offerings today come from the means that God has provided to us.

The second point is that God has more than enough to meet our needs.  Most of us know what it is like to live on a budget and plan for expenses, making sure we have enough income to cover those. We may know what it means to go without what we need because of limited resources. This verse assures us that God has plenty of resources out of which to meet all of our needs.

Personal Worship Option:

Almighty God, out of your great abundance, you have provided for me and my family. Thank you for your generosity. Now, help me to not hold on to my possessions too tightly so that I can give back to you generously and share my blessings with others.  Amen!
