Read Genesis 22:1-13.

God called Abraham to take his son Isaac to a mountain in the land of Moriah to sacrifice his son. Muslim, Christian and Jewish scholars believe that present day Jerusalem is the sight of this attempted sacrifice. Abraham was going to the mountain with his son and knew he was going to sacrifice him but evidently had confidence in God because he said they would both return. As they were gathering wood for the sacrifice Isaac asked a logical question. We have the fire and the wood but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?  Abraham responded, “God will provide (Jehovah Jireh – Our Provider) for Himself a lamb.”  We know Abraham did not sacrifice his son and God did provide. They found a ram caught in the thicket by its horns.  God provided for Abraham and God provides for us as well. It is amazing how God can meet our needs when we trust Him. God is still answering prayers and meeting our needs, and the needs of our church.

Personal Worship Option:

Jehovah Jireh (ji rah) I thank you for providing for me in amazing and sometimes miraculous ways. Thank you for meeting my needs and the needs of my family. I pray for those who are suffering financial hardship and those who are homeless.  Meet their needs we pray in Jesus' holy name. Amen
