The Hidden Blessing in Giving

Devotional Thought: In a world that often tells us to pursue more — more success, more wealth, more recognition — Jesus offers a radical countercultural truth: the greatest blessing comes not in getting, but in giving. Paul reminds the Ephesian elders of this truth as he departs, not with a sermon, but with his example. His life wasn’t centered around accumulating for himself but around pouring out for others.

Giving is not just about money. It’s about time, kindness, encouragement, presence, service, and love. Every time we give, we reflect the heart of God — the One who gave His Son for us. When we give with joy, without expecting anything in return, we step into a divine rhythm that satisfies our souls in a way receiving never could.

Application: Who around you needs something you can offer? Maybe it’s a word of encouragement, a hot meal, your time, or simply a listening ear. Look for a way to give today, even if it costs you. It might stretch you, but it will bless you — often in ways you don’t see right away.

Lord, thank You for the ultimate gift of Jesus. Help me to live a life marked by generosity. Teach me to see the needs around me and to give with joy and love. Remind me that in giving, I reflect Your heart and step into the true blessing You’ve promised. Amen.
