Read Ephesians 4:29 - 5:2.

I love this passage of Scripture. It contains excellent, basic guidance on living the way of Jesus Christ in everyday life. Can you imagine what a wonderful world it would be if we all only said, “what is helpful for building others up according to their needs…”? Can you imagine what a difference we would make as the people of Christ if we never “grieved the Holy Spirit”? How beautiful it would be if we could “get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” What if we were always “kind and compassionate to one another”? What if we really did “forgive each other” like God forgave us through Jesus?

And yet, my favorite line in the whole passage is this: “Follow God’s example…and walk in the way of love…” That’s it - that’s the basic message of the whole Bible. You hear me regularly refer to “the way of Jesus Christ.” It is the way of love. May we never stop growing in learning and living that way.
