Devotion:
Read Philippians 2:1-4.
Paul lets the Christians in Philippi know that if they will focus on the interests of others, rather than their own interests, they will be filled with joy. That joy still comes to any group of Christians who are focused on the needs of others.
We serve Christ by serving needy people. What makes Christians different than others is a genuine love and joy that is offered to others. There are many reasons to help people in need. But for the Christian, none is higher than when we love those in need. In doing so, we are loving Jesus. This type of compassion is the result of Christ’s salvation in our lives. Joy is cultivated in a life of service and love.
Personal Worship Option:
Prayer for today: O LORD, what an amazing opportunity you have spread out before me today. This is a chance to make a difference for you in a desperately hurting world. Help me to see the needs you want me to see, to react in a way that honors you, and to bless others by serving them gladly with practical expressions of your love. Help me be Jesus’ hands and feet. Through each experience bring joy and peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
