Devotion:

Read John 14:27.

Our world needs peace. The world is marked by sorrow, wounded by war, and filled with hatred. There is so much conflict going on between people groups, nations, political parties, religious groups, churches, and even individual Christians. People have internal conflict which causes anxiety and stress. Where can we find peace? Jesus is the answer. He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” Lasting peace comes from Him. His peace is deep and settles our soul. His peace brings tranquility. Jesus takes all of our scattered pieces and puts them together in a well fitted puzzle. The result is peace unlike any other on earth.

We have peace with God through the forgiving of our sins. That leads to peace inside us as we know we have a Father who loves us. That leads to peace with others as we learn to serve and be gracious and forgiving. Jesus’ peace is unique, much different from the world’s kind of peace. He said, “I do not give to you as the world gives.” The world seeks peace, but it only influences the surface of our lives. It may lead to a temporary end of conflict, but it cannot prevail. Jesus is the great peacemaker. Do you know the peace Jesus brings?

Personal Worship Option:

Jesus thank you for the lasting peace which you gave us with your death on the cross.  May we enjoy peace with God and learn to live at peace with others. In the name of the Prince of Peace, Amen.
