Read Joel 2:12-13.
Joel is a poetic and prophetic metaphor full of amazing imagery about the destruction of Judah and how God is going to restore them. In Joel we discover a loving merciful God who pursues a stubborn people who refuse to obey Him. The people of Israel were in a crisis. They needed an encouraging word. Joel tells them to repent. It was probably not what they wanted to hear but it is what they needed to hear. Repentance is not just about outward appearances but an inner transformation.
Joel’s message reveals a God who is not eager to punish but eager to forgive. He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in steadfast love. He welcomes every humble return with mercy and restoration. God is still crying out, “Even now, return to Me.” The arms of Jesus are open. Come with a sincere heart ready to receive His grace.
