Read 2 Timothy 2:15.

Second Timothy is Paul’s last letter. It was written around 65 AD while he was under house arrest in Rome. He was convicted of crimes against the state and treason.  He knew his death was imminent and yet he was not grieving over his impending death. His concern was for Timothy and his ministry at the church of Ephesus where he was the pastor. Timothy witnessed first-hand the ministry of Paul and saw how faithful he was to the Gospel. Paul encourages Timothy to handle the Word of God accurately. It takes humility, courage and inspiration from the Holy Spirit to be faithful to the Word of God.

Over the years I have heard many different interpretations of the scriptures that are unfortunate. Misinterpreting Scripture and how we are to apply the scriptures can lead to false teachings, spiritual harm and ultimately, eternal consequences. Like Timothy, I believe God calls all of us to accurately handle the word of truth.

Personal Worship Option:

Loving God, may your Holy Spirit teach us your word, so we not only understand your Word, but know how to apply it to our lives. Amen.
