Read Acts 9:1-19.
The conversion of Saul is one of the most famous transformations in Christian history. Saul was like an angry bull spewing out hatred and violence against anyone connected to Jesus. But Saul changed when he met Jesus. Saul fell to the ground when a light from heaven flashed around him. This put him in a position in which he had to listen to God.
To his shock and surprise, Saul heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Saul thought he was serving God by persecuting Christians. But the voice said why do you persecute me? Completely shaken, Saul asked “who are you, Lord?” The reply was “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” All of Saul's ideas about Jesus came crashing down as his new Master told him to get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.
In Damascus, a disciple named Ananias called him "Brother." Saul regained his sight, was baptized, sealing the change in his heart and life, and from that day on he preached the good news that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. The essentials of all journeys with God are the same: repentance, faith in Jesus, baptism, union with other believers, and witnessing for Christ.
