Devotion:
Read Job 2:11-13.
Job’s friends served him well by simply going to be with him during his time of distress. No words needed to be said. Just being with him was a powerful act. Trying to avoid suffering in this life is like trying to avoid breathing. It can't be done. The Bible even says that those who desire to live a godly life will suffer. But God is with you - God is WITH you! He is right there with you, perhaps more in times of crisis than any other time. The presence of friends is the embodiment of God’s presence as well. Friends who sympathize and comfort with their presence is the greatest gift that can be given. If you have no words to offer in a crisis - it is quite alright - the offer of your presence is a far superior gift.
Personal Worship Option:
Do you have a friend going through a loss or grief of some kind and you’re not sure what to say or what to do? Just be there. Give the gift of your presence.
