Devotion:
Read 1 Peter 2:1-5.
In our culture babies live on milk for the first six months or more. When a baby is hungry, he will make his strong desire known. And babies eat every two to three hours!
We are to hunger for God’s Word like a little baby craves milk. Just as milk provides physical nourishment, God’s Word provides spiritual nourishment. Babies grow by means of milk. Christians grow by means of God’s Word.
Peter calls it “the pure milk.” It is pure in the sense that there is no error in God’s Word. It is 100% good for you. It is 100% true.
Being hungry for God’s Word means we read it, study it, and live by it. When we do, we will grow spiritually so that we can be the good “living stones” Peter describes. We are to present ourselves as building stones within God’s sanctuary and live vibrant lives for him.
Personal Worship Option:
Think today about how hungry you are for God’s Word. Decide the best way for you to study the Bible – join a Bible study, develop an independent study plan, find a good study guide, or partner with someone and study God’s Word together. Commit to getting the spiritual nourishment you need to grow as a Christian.
