Read Matthew 6:26.

This verse is from Jesus’ sermon on the mount. He wants us to remember that he treasures us. When Jesus said, “Look at the birds”, the people could probably watch these birds as they flew among the plants and trees on the mountainside. When you can, take some time today to look at birds, even if just for a few minutes. Remember that much of what was written in the Bible took place outside, under the sky where we can see and make connections to the creation God has made.

When he refers to the birds, he says they do not store things up or worry because God provides food. Are we not more valuable than birds? If God cares for the needs of birds and flowers, will he not care even more for his children? God calls us to seek him, living first for him and trusting that he will supply all our needs and more. He treasures the creation of each of us and is right there with us. Worry doesn't add any benefit to our lives. But when we trust God and live for him, we can have a full, abundant life forever.

Personal Worship Option:

God, watch over us. We need you every hour. Help us to trust you, and to keep us strong. Thank you for your love. Amen.
