Devotion:
Read 1 Corinthians 3:1-9.
As we become Christians, believing in Christ, we are urged to grow in our knowledge and faith. We are to be in a church and groups that help us move forward in our ability to help others become Christians. We should be excited about sharing the good life with Christ. We need to mature and serve, not continue to be served.
I had a pastor friend who was frustrated about a couple who had joined his church. As new guests, they were welcomed with open arms, got attention from leaders, and asked about their opinions. They were so happy and became members. However, a few months later, they began to complain and cause some disruption and quarrels. The couple felt that they were not getting the same attention that they did when they came, and that nobody cared for them after they had become members. They were no longer a main focus. They had not grown to realize that they needed to be sharing God’s love and good news to others. Complaining hurts the cause. Reading the scriptures, praying to God often, and associating with other believers is critical for our maturity. Paul states that we must get from milk to solid food. These efforts are what are needed to accomplish that.
Personal Worship Option:
Dear God, help us to forget self and to reach out to others who need you in their lives. Guide us in learning and growing in our faith so we are working together as a team to share Jesus’ love. Amen.
