Read Matthew 6:25-34.
One of the statements in “The Lord’s Prayer” is “Give us this day our daily bread.” The line relates to this teaching from Jesus in today’s passage. God will provide all our daily needs. Planning for tomorrow is time well spent, especially if following God’s guidance. Worrying about tomorrow is time wasted. Sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference. Worry leads us to be consumed by fear and it is hard to trust God. But this is not what God wants for us. He wants us to seek him, which means to turn to God for help, to fill our thoughts with his desires, and to serve and obey him. Don’t let worries about today and/or tomorrow affect your relationship with God. Trust God. The same God who created life in you can be trusted with the details of your life. Remember that God does not ignore those who depend on him. Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry.
Personal Worship Option:
What consumes your thoughts? Share those thoughts with God. When worry invades your mind - stop, talk to God, then remind yourself God will provide for this day.
